ABOUT

Originally from Pembrokeshire, West Wales, Ffion has been singing since the age of 7. She began competing in Eisteddfodau and has performed with organisations including CICA, the Urdd National Youth Theatre and the John S Davies Singers. Ffion studied with Suzanne Murphy at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama where she completed her undergraduate studies with first class honours, and has also graduated with Distinction from the Master of Arts course at the Royal Academy of Music, studying with Mary Nelson.  

Her operatic highlights include Frasquita in Carmen, Annina in La Traviata and Papagena in The Magic Flute (Menter Rhosygilwen), and chorus in Hänsel und grettel (Royal Academy Opera). Ffion has also performed scenes from Die fledermaus, Così fan tutte, The Magic Flute, Oberon and Les Contes d’Hoffmann.

Oratorio performances include Fauré’s Requiem (John S Davies Singers), Vivaldi’s Gloria (Côr Teifi), Vivaldi’s Dixit Dominus, Magnificat and Beatus vir (Cantorion Teifi) and Dvorák's Stabat Mater (Cantorion Teifi).

Ffion has given recitals at Llandeilo Music Festival and Milford Haven Music Festival, and is a regular concert soloist. She has performed with numerous choirs including the South Wales Male Voice Choir, CF1, Côr y Gleision, Whitland Male Voice Choir and Côr Crymych a'r Cylch.

Her international debut was made at the North American Festival of Wales, where she represented the URDD as a soloist. She has also travelled to Japan to participate in a cultural exchange project with students from Sapporo University and Primary Schools.

Ffion’s competition successes include winning the Blue Ribbon in the Osborne Roberts Memorial Prize (2026) and the the Violet Mary Lewis prize (2025) for the most promising soprano at the National Eisteddfod, and at the Urdd National Eisteddfod she won the Sir Bryn Terfel award and the Pam Weaver Scholarship (2025). She was also selected as the Best Soloist at the National YFC Eisteddfod, Winner of the District and Regional finals for the Vocal Rotary Young Musician, Finalist in the London Welsh Young Singer Competition, and Highly Commended in the RAM Vocal Recital Prizes.
